St. Marks United Methodist Church welcomes all persons into the full life and ministry of our congregation, regardless of race, culture, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, family or socioeconomic status, physical or mental ability, or faith history.
All are welcome at St. Marks United Methodist Church, and by “all” we mean ALL. We strive to live out the words found in Galatians 3:28, “There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus.” In so doing, we are a congregation that embodies God’s absolute love and hospitality, proclaiming Jesus as our Savior and as our model of the ultimate embodiment of God’s love. We believe that all persons are of sacred worth and dignity as part of God’s good creation.
We believe God created the earth and is sovereign over all creation. We believe God is loving, and that we can experience God’s grace. God is three persons in one: The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe Jesus was both fully human and fully divine. We believe Christ is our Savior and that in him we receive abundant life and forgiveness of sins. We are called to pattern our lives after his.
We believe the Holy Spirit is God with us. The Spirit comforts us when we are in need and guides us in our lives. The Holy Spirit awakens us to God and empowers us to live faithfully.
We believe the Bible is God’s Word. We believe that Holy Scripture is the primary authority for our faith
and practice.
