Annoucement Regarding Pastoral Leadership Change

Carl GreeneAnnouncements

It is with a blend of gratitude and sadness that we announce the resignation of Carl Greene as the Lead Pastor of St Marks Church.

Carl has been an instrumental force for ministry since he answered the call for revitalization 5 years ago. Through his work, alongside the initial revitalization team, then later with the first Leadership Team at St Marks, he has led the congregation with creativity and care. Carl’s ministerial calling has been displayed through the growth of our congregation and the ways in which he invited us to participate in a daily relationship with Jesus Christ. To say he will be missed is a gross understatement. Carl and Keith will continue to call St Marks their church home and Carl will remain in service to the congregation via other ministry avenues in 2017.

We will honor Carl and his ministry on Sunday, January 8 during our 10:30 am service. We encourage you attend so that you might echo our thanks and love to him. As this is also our Sunday Brunch event, we will then head to The Feed Company immediately following the service to continue our celebration of Carl’s ministry here at St Marks.

We are equally pleased to announce that Gary Ihfe, Shepherding Pastor, will step into the role of Lead Pastor. Gary will continue to serve as pastor of Lookout Mountain United Methodist Church, leading both congregations with love and care. Anna Golladay will continue to serve as your Associate Pastor and Jeanne Eller will continue to serve as the Music and Worship Arts Pastor. We are excited about this new phase of possibility and ministry in the life of St Marks Church and look forward to spending even more time with Gary. If you have not yet had a chance to meet and introduce yourself to Gary, he will also be with us on Sunday, January 8 for our service and lunch.

Gary is a native of Texas and resides in Rising Fawn, GA with his wife Jodie and their daughters Lydia and Lily. Jodie is the pastor at New Salem United Methodist Church. Please join us in congratulating Gary in his new role. Should you have questions regarding this transition, please feel free to email Gary or Anna.
